Ink on 300 gms paper, 50.8 x 635 cm (200 individual drawings each 12.7 x 12.7 cm)
This piece comprises 200+ individual ink drawings based on cropped stills from an earlier video work Mantle. In the video, I scribe various circles while engulfed in an oversized 'garment' loosely constructed of squares of felt. The resulting movement created calligraphic shapes, and that reference led to experimenting with ink. The drawings can be configured in multiple ways. In these two examples they are set up in sequential order left to right and top to bottom, out of which there is a stop animation sense of movement, although the origins of that movement are obscured.
